Best Co-Parenting Apps in the UK (2026)

HomeBlogBest Co-Parenting Apps UK 2026

Most co-parenting apps were built in the US for the US market. That creates real problems for UK families: data stored in America under different privacy laws, pricing in dollars with no per-family option, and no specific guidance around CAFCASS, Section 7 welfare reports, or family court processes in England and Wales.

This guide looks at every app worth considering in 2026 — what they actually cost for a UK family, where your data goes, and how useful they'd be if you ever needed records for court.

⚠️ No app can guarantee court acceptance of its records. What matters is that records are timestamped, complete, unedited, and verifiable. The apps below vary significantly in how well they meet those criteria.

App Reviews

Good — but expensive
OurFamilyWizard
~£27/mo for both parents

The market leader, especially in the US. Well-established with family courts and used by many US family law attorneys. For UK families, the main downsides are cost (roughly £325/year for both parents combined), US data storage, and no specific CAFCASS guidance. It's a capable app — but expensive, and not designed for the UK system.

✓ Strengths
  • Comprehensive features — messaging, calendar, expenses, documents
  • Well-established with US courts
  • Strong audit trail and tamper-evident records
  • ToneMeter (AI tone guidance)
✗ Weaknesses
  • ~£27/mo combined for both parents
  • US data storage — less ideal for GDPR-conscious UK families
  • No free tier
  • No LGBTQ+ family design
  • No UK-specific court guidance
Decent — but per-parent pricing
TalkingParents
~£14/mo for both parents

A focused, no-frills communication tool. Good for high-conflict situations where simplicity matters. Cheaper than OFW, but still per-parent pricing and US data. The free tier is too limited to be genuinely useful — you'll need the paid plan for PDF exports.

✓ Strengths
  • Simple, focused product
  • Cheaper than OurFamilyWizard
  • Good for documenting communications in disputes
✗ Weaknesses
  • Per-parent pricing — still ~£14/mo combined
  • US data
  • Limited expense tracking
  • No LGBTQ+ design
  • Free tier too limited for real use
Solid — EU data, no free tier
2Houses
~£18/mo for both parents

A European-built app — data stored in the EU, which is a meaningful advantage for UK families concerned about GDPR. Good feature set including messaging, calendar, expense tracking, and an information journal. Pricier than Larkling, no free tier, and not designed for LGBTQ+ or alternative families.

✓ Strengths
  • EU data storage
  • Good feature set
  • Established product with decent reviews
✗ Weaknesses
  • ~£18/mo combined, no free tier
  • Not designed for UK court system specifically
  • Traditional family design assumptions
Skip for UK use
AppClose
~£10/mo for both parents

The cheapest paid option and the most US-centric. Data in the US, limited court record features, and no specific UK guidance. Fine for basic communication logging, but not well-suited for families who may need records for UK family court proceedings.

✓ Strengths
  • Lowest paid price point
  • Easy to use
✗ Weaknesses
  • US data
  • Weakest court record features
  • No UK relevance

What UK Families Should Prioritise

Data location. Under UK GDPR (retained post-Brexit), your data rights are meaningful. US-based apps use Standard Contractual Clauses to cover UK transfers — this is legal, but some families prefer keeping sensitive records within the EU. Larkling and 2Houses both store data in the EU.

CAFCASS and family court relevance. If there's any chance records might be used in court proceedings — a Section 7 welfare report, a residence dispute, an emergency application — you want records that are timestamped, complete, and verifiable. All apps claim this to varying degrees; OFW and Larkling are the most explicit about hash-based tamper evidence.

Per-family vs per-parent pricing. In the UK, where one parent may be on a reduced income post-separation, the difference between £6.99/month for the family versus £14–27/month for both parents combined is significant. Only Larkling charges per family.

Inclusive design. If you're in a same-sex relationship, have a trans or non-binary co-parent, or have a non-traditional family structure, most apps were simply not designed for you. They'll work technically, but the language and assumptions will be off. Larkling is the only app on this list built with those families as the intended audience, not an afterthought.

Our Recommendation

For most UK families, Larkling on the free tier covers the basics — shared messaging with a documented record, a shared calendar, and Tone Coach to help keep communications constructive. If you need full message history, PDF exports for court, expense tracking, or document storage, Premium at £6.99/month per family is significantly cheaper than any alternative.

If you're in active litigation and your solicitor already knows OurFamilyWizard, staying with it makes sense — court familiarity matters. But for families starting fresh, there's no good reason to pay £27/month when better-priced options with EU data exist.
